Barbara J. Burns, PH.D., is Professor at Duke University School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences in Durham, N.C. She has studied clinical interventions for adults with severe mental illness and children with serious emotional disturbance and has authored over 200 scientific publications.

Her research focuses on the development and dissemination of evidence-based practices for children and families. She has received ten years of training in Satir approaches and is eager to promote research on Satir therapy.
